Pansies & Violas

Orange pansies and purple and yellow viola faces make me happy today.     Our recent rain moisture is being saved beneath the soil by all the free mulch I received from Ploughshares Nursery here on Main Street close to the Ferry.  The people are wonderful there, prices are right and they specialize in native plants grown organically.   They have seminars there on horticulture, bee care, pruning, and the employees there helped me choose plants for my yard.   I can't wait to see how my sweet pomegranate does, so far so good.   Don't forget to bring a big bag for your mulch.

Home, again!

Tuesday night view of my mother's home in Upstate New York.   They have had their share of snow and I hear more is coming tonight, perhaps 18 inches.    Will they be able to see out the front window?

Thursday morning view of my Alameda yard and its Santa Rosa plum tree blossoms, as I sip my coffee on a rather cool, rainy morning.   (Click on plum for full effect)

Walking Companion

Introducing my walking companion, Rudy, who is still not quite in the loose leash mode shown here.  I caught him at a  moment of rest.  We've had Rudy since December 1, and he has proven to be a charming buddy, albeit a Terror of a Terrior, bark-wise.  He is learning to be more discreet barking mostly at small older ladies and those who would love to be his friend.  His favorite place is the small dog park, where is gets an A in social skills.

Remember "First Tulip".  Passed that tree today in glorious Magnolia/Tulip splendor.  Our plum is starting to bud, so I'm hoping the warm weather holds a while so we may have some fruit this season.
