Clouds and Sunshine

Two days couldn't be more different.   Had to walk home from my favorite mechanic on Buena Vista and Webster and ventured into some new neighborhoods on a very cloudy day.   I saw Victorian's adorned with that beautiful gold paint that adds just the right Midas touch to finish off beautiful paint jobs.

The following day was sparkling with sunshine and I had to photograph another side of our island.  This lagoon was formerly where San Francisco Bay met Alameda.   My husband used to leave his house in the early morning, run down this block and hop into the bay via a small sandy beach at the bottom of some concrete steps right here.   He would return home at night, filling the bathtub with sand as he cleaned up.  He and his friends would build rafts and float down to Union Street, digging tunnels along the way.    He had a great childhood near the water.   It's funny, I've lived here for 15 years and have never seen a boat floating in the lagoon.    I do see boats near tiny docks but never anyone using one.    Have you seen any?

(In the far background you can see Alameda Hospital.)
